Journey of the Journeyman: Spreading the Love

I apologize for the delay between posts, but lately I have been a very busy man.  Earlier this year, I accepted the position of the Head Coach of the Beginners Course at Tried-N-True Pro Wrestling's training center, the Tried-N-True Academy, and it has been a ride!

I have assisted various training classes before.  I was an assistant trainer for Chase Stevens, Dutch Mantell, and Jeff Daniels in the past.  I've assisted people in seminars.  I've even taken over training from a friend when he went down with a debilitating knee injury and could not complete the training for his students.  However, this has been my first experience as Head Coach...and I'm loving it.

Since April, I have taken a class that topped out at 19 students from having little to no in-ring experience to giving them the basic fundamentals needed to get the foot in the door of this crazy dream we call professional wrestling.  Along the way, we lost a few students.  Some stopped showing up.  Some decided it wasn't for them.  Others left for personal reasons.  At the end of 12 weeks and 36 sessions, 15 students remained.

I don't want to undermine the accomplishment those 15 made.  These sessions aren't easy.  On top of the already difficult learning aspect and beating the body takes, blow up drills are frequent and practice is regularly ended with a workout circuit that we affectionately call "Burnout".  Videos of these can be found on the Tried-N-True Pro social media.  These 15 have pushed themselves and should be commended for completion.

Of the 15, I am beyond proud to say that we have 10 graduated moving on to the Intermediate Class headed up by Crazzy Steve and Anthony Lucassio.  It warms my heart to see these students become something more than often times they even though was possible.

The remaining 5 will continue to be polished up and have the kinks worked out, and then they too will move on to the Intermediate Course.  I have 100% faith in that.

I have always wanted to leave some sort of legacy in the ring.  I love performing and always will, but I may have found my next calling.

I would like to thank a lot of people, so please bare with me.

I would like to thank Crimson for giving me this opportunity.  He and I have been close friends since day 1, and none of this would be possible without him.  He saw something in me and thought this would be a good fit, and even when I didn't see it, pushed forward and ended up being right on the money.

I want to thank Crazzy Steve and Anthony Lucassio.  Both have helped me tremendously with ideas for drills and alternate teaching methods.  Steve helped me tremendously with putting a curriculum together, and I'm beyond glad to have both joining me as Academy coaches officially.

I want to thank all the guest coaches that came by to lend their bit of advice and stories, giving the students other outlooks and opportunities.  Tried-N-True Pro Wrestling is a family.  I know that's cliche, but these guest coaches came in on their own accord to help.  I thank you for that.
Thank you Jax Dane!
Thank you Rebel!
Thank you Paredyse!
Thank you Jayme Jameson!
Thank you Kevin Weatherby!

Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank my students.  You guys worked your asses off.  You worked through the heat, the drills, the bumps, the bruises...To the 15 that made it to the end, thank you.  You made me realize that this ol' Journeyman may have something worth giving after all.
Thank you Daniel!
Thank you All Star!
Thank you Red!
Thank you Speedy!
Thank you Honcho!
Thank you Brittany!
Thank you Dusty!
Thank you Maniac Mike!
Thank you Mo!
Thank you Si!
Thank you Big Mike!
Thank you Rhamey!
Thank you Dote!
Thank you Kountry!
Thank you Mims!

With all that out of the way, each one of these students worked extremely hard and are being rewarded.  On July 15th, the Tried-N-True Academy is hosting the first Student Showcase.  If possible, please attend and support these great students.  Flyer below.
The following week, on July 21st, Tried-N-True Pro Wrestling will be bringing The Last Stand to the Wilma Rudolph Event Center in Clarksville, TN.  As always, the card is stacked.  Tickets are available at TriedNTruePro.com.
